Detail and comparison of the manufacturing process of ecological insulating cork
Chipboard Eco Black and Chipboard Natur Crudo BL
Black Agglomerated Cork is manufactured with natural cork granules. Agglomerating in an autoclave at high pressure and high temperature with superheated steam without the addition of binders, and the binder is the resin distilled from the cork itself. Blocks are obtained that when leaving the autoclave self-ignite when they come into contact with the oxygen in the air.
They are immediately introduced into shutdown and rest chambers, without any subsequent physical problem. This manufacturing system causes the final product to be black in color and retain a very peculiar toasted smell for a long time. Resulting in a 100% totally natural and totally ecological agglomerate, with very low density, which gives it high insulating properties.
Crude-BL Agglomerated Cork is manufactured with the same raw material but without passing the resin distillation process. The cork granules are agglutinated in a continuous press, with a minimum addition of 2% of binder suitable for food use, diluted in water, due to the effect of pressure and temperature. The final product is a natural raw color with hardly any odor. Resulting in an agglomerate of natural and Ecological 98% cork, since it meets the required emission conditions for its denomination. A product with a higher density is obtained that increases the acoustic insulation and in return it decreases the thermal insulation very slightly.
